Coca-Cola "illegally collected classified information with handheld GPS equipment", a news portal run by party officials in Yunnan province alleged last month citing the provincial mapping bureau. A senior mapping official told the official radio service that it was essential to punish companies that are involved in illegal mapping. The provincial government said the Coca-Cola case was one of 21 cases of alleged illegal surveying under investigation in the area, including illegal sales of classified military maps online, aerial photography by unmanned aircraft, and illegal surveying of military bases.
