If you want to make your garden butterfly friendly then you don't need a special garden for that, you can attract butterflies in any garden. If you have attractive plants or flowers in your garden, then butterflies would find it by themselves. Usually butterfly got attracted with those garden where they find attractive flowers and they can lay their eggs on plants, their eggs became larva and start eating plants by birth. There are different species of butterflies and all species do not have same preference toward plants, so you are suggested to plant a large variety of plants to attract them, asters, azalea, bee balm, blueberry, butterfly bush, butterfly weed, coneflower, goldenrod, Impatiens, Joe-Pye weed, lilac, marigolds, verbena and yarrow are some of the best plants to attract them and you are also suggested to avoid plants like milkweed, dogbane, nettles and thistles because these plants are hated by butterflies.
