According to the report it has been found that the train's cars was uncoupled from a parked engine and derailed early on Saturday, 6th July 2013 which resulted into a fireball and black smoke into the air, in which one was killed and forcing the evacuation of 1,000 people. Many near by buildings were destroyed in the town, about 250km east of Montreal. According to the police the death toll may rise and they are still finding the missing peoples.

Canada train blast occurred when a driverless train carrying light crude oil exploded in the Canadian town of Lac-Megantic, The train's 73 cars reportedly uncoupled from a parked engine and derailed early on Saturday, As fire-fighters doused still burning oil tanker cars, more bodies were recovered Sunday, raising the death toll to five, igniting explosions and fires that destroyed the downtown district. With dozens of people reported missing, authorities expected to find more bodies once they reached the hardest-hit area. Quebec provincial police Lt. Michel Brunet said Sunday that at least 40 people are reported missing, but cautioned that the number could fluctuate up or down. Brunet confirmed two more deaths early Sunday afternoon after confirming two people were found dead overnight. One death was confirmed Saturday.
