Iodine is a chemical element which is mainly used by the Thyroid Gland to produce Thyroxine hormone in our body. But according to a research tissue of Brain, Stomach, Skin, Thymus, Salivary glands, Breasts and Pancreas also absorbs a few amount of Iodine. Deficiency of Iodine can result in several diseases like : >> Hypothyroidism, Goiter, Mental retardation, Certain forms of cancer and Cretinism.
