The first ever thermometer with water in a glass bulb was invented by Galileo Galilei in the year 1593. It worked on the principal that the water moved up and down the bulb as the temperature changed. But later in 1714, Daniel Gabriel Fahrenheit invented the first mercury thermometer. He was a German physicist, and was born on May 24, 1686 in GdaƄsk and died on September 16, 1736 in The Hague.
