    Mercury is liquid at room temperature. Thermometers, manometers, and barometers use Mercury. Mercury vapor are highly toxic vapors and can cause health hazards. Also, mercury droplets can be very dangerous as they are very difficult to pick up when fallen on the small holes on the floor. >>Illness can result primarily from the inhalation of vapors, fumes, or dust. >>The mercury salt compounds can cause dermatitis, and mercury fulminate can cause skin irritation. >>Mercury poisoning can result from direct skin contact, or by ingestion. >>Prolonged exposure to mercury can even cause kidney disease and chronic nervous disorders.
