    Al-Shabab is a Somali group which is loyal to al-Qaeda. Al- Shabab means "The Youth", or "The Youngsters". Al-Shabaab's troop strength as of 2014 was estimated at 7,000 to 9,000 militants. In February 2012, some of the group's leaders quarreled with Al-Qaeda over the union, and quickly lost ground. Al-Shabaab has been designated as a terrorist organization by Australia, Canada, the UAE, the United Kingdom and the United States. Whereas Al-Shabab has been fighting for years in Somalia in order to enable conversion of people to an Islamic theocracy.
