Atmospheric pressure is a force that is applied to a surface by the volume or weight of air above that surface. Low pressure areas have less atmospheric gases which are used in breathing than high pressure area. If there is a big gap between the surface and gases then there would be less Atmospheric pressure. Standard atmospheric pressure equals to 101325 pascals or 1013.25 millibars.
