The full form of MTP is Media Transfer Protocol. It is a protocol which include devices like cellular phones, that transfer data through a USB connection. This protocol was invented by Microsoft and first appeared in Android phones, but nowadays it is included in many types of phones. MTP is a method of transferring media and other files between two devices with a universal serial bus connection. It is an advanced version of the older picture transfer protocol. It works best with Windows computers, as it was designed by Microsoft. It is also compatible with Apple computers, however, computers using Linux have a much harder time with the protocol. It is a prior way of transferring files between computers and smartphones with USB mass storage, which utilize a partition, so a phone's storage memory split between file storage and programs. With MTP, phones use only 1 volume of all the information within the cell phone. This protocol also grants larger flexibility in data storage formats compared to the previous USB mass storage. It permits for very easy file transfer with drag and drag capability for nearly any sort of file.
