The Extensive Markup Language (XML) is a markup language which is similar to HTML (HyperText Markup Language). It gives encoding documents in both human-readable and machine-readable formats. It was developed by the World Wide Web Consortium in the year 2006 to transport and store data. Now it has become the default format for many offices-productivity tools like LibreOffice, Microsoft Office and Apple iWork. To read more about XML, follow this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XML
