Plaster of Paris (POP) is also known as Gypsum Plaster. Its chemical name is calcium sulphate hemihaydrate (CaSO4·1/2H2O). It is a dry powder similar to cement and commonly used for coating walls and ceilings. It is formed by heating Gypsum to 150 degrees : 2 CaSO4·2H2O → (2 CaSO4·H2O) + 3 H2O
