Baking Soda : - It is a pure sodium bicarbonate. When acidic ingredient and moisture combined with it a chemical reaction occurs which produces bubbles of carbon dioxide that expand under oven temperatures resulting in the rise of baking goods.

Baking Powder : - It contains sodium bicarbonate with acidifying agent and a drying agent also. There are two types of baking powder single - acting and double - acting. Single-acting powder can easily be activated by moisture, whereas double-acting powders react in two different phases and stay for a while before baking.
