Lactose is the name of the sugar which is naturally found in milk. It was first discovered by Fabrizio Bartoletti in the year 1619 and in 1780 it was identified as sugar. It is derived from Galactose and Glucose and makes up about 0 to 8 percent of the milk's weight.
