China has announced to construct the world's highest altitude airport in Central Tibet in Nagqu prefecture at an altitude of 4,436 meters under a $ 22 billion five year development push to boost the region's infrastructure. It will be 102 meters higher than the airport at Bamda in Qamado prefecture, which is at present the world's highest airport.
