"Arundhati Roy" is the first Indian to win the Bookers Prize in Fiction. She won this award in the year 1997 for the novel "The God of Small Things" which was published in English language in 1997. She is an Indian author and political activist and was born on 24th November, 1961 in Shillong, Assam (present-day Meghalaya), India.
