Green is used in hospitals because it's thought to be easier on the eyes and to help lower the stress levels of both patients and health-care people. The reson behind this pleasant look is, as we know that daylight is made up of seven wavelengths of light (violet, indigo, blue, green, yellow, orange and red). A particular colour reflects a particular wavelength of light (to our eyes) and absorbs the rest of the wavelengths. The wavelength of green is of 550 nanometre (1 nm = one billionth of a metre) which is soothing to the eyes and helps in quick recovery.
