Electrolytes are the those chemical compounds which dissolve in ionizing solvents like water. It is basically mineral salts that include sodium, potassium, magnesium and calcium. These minerals play a critical role in many functions of our body including balancing fluids inside and outside our cells, healthy nerves and muscle movement, maintaining the pH balance of our blood. Some of the foods that are rich in electrolytes are: banana, orange, tomatoes, spinach, broccoli and avocado.
