Tubelight contain lots of gases that is why they are white in color. Glass used in the tubelight is transparent, but for passing the electricity from one point to another there are gases. We can see those gases when a tubelight breaks, it makes a heavy sound when it breaks, blinks when it starts, that all things happen because of the gases in it.
