Taking a serious note on the growing menace of Ebola virus in West Africa, the World Health Organization declared the Ebola outbreak as an international public health emergency on August 8,2014.WHO declared the similar emergencies for the swine flu pandemic in 2009 and for polio in May, this year. The current outbreak of Ebola began in Guinea in March this year and has since spread to Sierra Leone and Liberia. The Ebola virus has a death rate of about 90 percent, has so far killed more than 1100 people. There is no vaccine and specific treatment for the Ebola disease so far.
