Tips for traffic stopping in retail ?

In a few days I’ll be attending a traffic stopping audition for a job at a makeup counter (greeting customers and trying to get a potential sale) but I barely have any retail experience, has anyone got any tips for greeting customers and getting a sale ?

you mean harassing customers to stop? don't try to get customers that are clearly trying to avoid you...if they turn away as they approach or try to give them selves room from you..leave them alone...don't keep calling after them when they ignore you

Don't be annoying and pushy. Be friendly. Be helpful (you'll get a lot of "where's the bathroom?" questions. Get to know the store layout so you can direct them to other depts. I demo'ed TVs once and even got angry complaints (and I didn't work for the store). I smiled and directed them to the right person. Be super helpful to the staff and managers. I assume you are being hired by a marketing company and not the store. You want to make sure you don't annoy the staff.

Look as hot as possible, look people in the eyes, and smile and be friendly.
