Does wendy’s or mcdonalds let you go on vacation for three weeks?

Im 16 and I want to apply for McDonalds and Wendy’s jobs. Unfortunately, my parents do not want me to be home alone when they go on vacation, so they booked a vacation for THREE weeks, which is really a lot. I’d hate to tell management that I have to be gone for three weeks, but I would have to. If I went away for three weeks, would I be fired? Or would I still be able to work just without paid vacation?

You need to ask them, not us as we have no say in what they will allow.

you need to ask nncdonalds or wendy's about all this

These companies are franchised and each branch has its own owners. It's up to the individual owner, not the parent company I would just tell them in advance that your parents have already booked a vacation on xx dates and you will not be able to work those dates but would be willing to pick up extra shifts before/after to make up for the lost hours

Usually not when you first start a job. You would have to tell your manager about the vacation once you get hired and see if they will let you go. I think you should apply for the job after you come back from the vacation, to avoid that whole situation. You don't typically get paid vacation until you've completed at least 3 months of employment or if you're full time. Depending on your area part time workers don't typically get paid vacation days.

It depends on the manager. Talk to them about it and that'll be your answer.

I'm guess that it is a part-time job. You don't even get three weeks working a full time job, until you have worked at least three years, possibly more for a company. If your parents are making you go with them, then just tell the employer, that you can't stay because your parents won't let you stay home alone.

What part of the year is the vacation? Wendy's an McDonald's often hire students who have a lot of time to work during the summer, but can't work as many hours each week during the school year. So they might want a worker who can work during the school year (when the other workers can't work as many hours) but take a long vacation during the summer (when the other employers can work more hours).

You definitely will not get paid vacation time. You might not even get three weeks unpaid time off, especially if you are a new employee. Depending on when the trip is planned, could you wait to apply for jobs until after the vacation? Or could you stay with a relative or friend’s parents in town while your parents are gone? If you feel strongly about applying for jobs right away, and you cannot stay with another adult while your parents are gone, you need to be upfront with the managers. If you are offered a job, you need to disclose your vacation plans before you accept the position.

Highly unlikely!!!! See that's just the thing about hiring kids you aren't reliable due to still being a minor and depend on your parents still. Common sense, of which you clearly dont have, says to look for job after your vacation!! Fkin duh dufus!! They are not going to hire you on just the mention of a vacation, and If you don't tell them about a future vacation already planned if hired then you will more than like be let go, so don't waste THEIR time. There are hundreds of others that can work without requesting vacation time.

It's up to your manager.

They won't allow it. If you can't work out something with a friend or relative to stay with them while the parents are gone, you might as well not apply. Wait till you get back so you can be a dependable employee.

Just wait until after your 3 week vacation to start applying.

Maybe if you save up enough vacation time. Very unlikely they’ll give you 3 weeks off because the manager will need people to cover you during those 3 weeks.

I work in the restaurant industry- You are 16 and would be a part-timer, you aren't given "vacation time", because you are not full time status with the company, so no they are not obligated to give you three weeks off for vacation. Sure you could let them know up front on the application that you won't be able to work for those 3 weeks, but keep in mind they may be gun shy about giving you the job. I wouldn't wait until your hired to tell them, because then they would either turn your request down flat and you'd be stuck between a rock/hard place OR flat out fired. The restuarant I work at- 1.) Everyone gets 3 weeks off at christmas 2) We get a week off in Feburary 3) Full timers get 11 paid sick days per year, the part timers do not. Good luck..

You need to bring this up when you get an interview. For some managers this would be a deal breaker, others might be willing to work with it.
