Does putting stuff on your car decrease the actual value for it?

so my neighbor he has like 2016 Charger he recently paid it off but he got the base model and it had like a V6 he put on LED headlights, tinted the windows, plasti-dip the rims BLACK, added a batman logo he wanted the new Honda Accord and when he was going to trade it in the guy at Honda said that those things he put on his charger decreased the value of it, so he decided to keep it instead. Does spraying the rims black and changing the lights actually lower the value of the car even more than it already is?

It may be worth more to a few people, but it will be worth less to most people.

By personalizing a vehicle, you make it less attractive to other buyers. The dealer would have had to spend time and money to bring the vehicle back to factory condition and that lowers the trade-in value of the vehicle.

With a dealer, yes. It reduces the number of buyers who will be interested in the car. They will be spending money to put the car back to stock. And who would want to have a Batman logo in his car? You will be on the receiving end of jokes in the office if you have one.

it's a Dodge. It lost it's value as soon as it came off the lot.

It depends on the buyer. Not the car lot salesman. Strap on a BALE OF DOPE. The value just went up for the druggies.

Who CARES? Is the stuff installed is for HIM, or some doofus in 5 of 10 years?
