Is he right or wrong? bose acoustimass 6 series V home theater?

So my dad got a bose acoustimass 6 series V home theater. We got it online so didnt get to hear it before he bought it. So he says the base isn’t working and its broken because it should be louder than the speakers and i have it turned all the up. And he said it should sound like when you go to the theaters and should be making the neighbors mad (jokingly). Is he right or wrong? I dont know much about home theater systems.

He should have Bought Other Sound Equipment. Bose is drastically overpriced dreck. Return the system for a refund, then buy proper separates. Truly good speakers cost $200 or more each (thus you're looking at $1,000 for the "5" part of surround sound) and a truly good "subwoofer" (the .1 part) costs at least $800. A receiver worth using will be $400 or more. Yup. $2,200 is about the minimum, but you can't get quality that you don't pay for.

spaceismissing has it have pop get his money back,,go to an upscale used AV store, take time to listen, or visit best buy when they are not terribly busy, get only a large screen,a sat. or internet tuner look at the older audio recievers, some gave dynamite sound, better put together than the all in one box that home theatre makers want the masses to buy

No highs, no lows, must be Bose. The lesson here is to never buy speakers without listening to them *first*.
