There is a good chance there is a new one coming out later this year. If you can't wait then the iPod touch is fine (the current model). Its basically an iPhone, minus the phone. Yes you can transfer the music using iTunes or you can stream them via the Music app if you are in the same wifi as your computer via Home Sharing. Can also download them on the iPod touch itself, no computer required.

For one thing, it is called the iPod touch, not the "iTouch". But anyways. Apple has pretty much abandoned the iPod line up, or so it seems. The iPod touch 6 is the latest version of the iPod touch and was nearly 4 years ago. If you've ever used an iPhone, then you know how to use the iPod touch. It is pretty much the same thing, except for the phone part. You cannot call, send text messages (iMessage is available), use mobile data, or GPS. Other than that, it is pretty much the same user experience. You can download apps from the App Store, watch YouTube, browse the web, record videos, take pictures, etc. And yes, you can transfer music from your computer to your iPod touch through iTunes. That is actually the only official way to get music from a PC to the device. You can also use streaming services like Apple Music, Spotify, Pandora, etc
