Why do people act like they don't want to sell you any ice cream at fast food restaurants?

They lie & tell you that the machine is broken, & then give you 1/2 cone full of ice cream @ McDonald's or Burger Kinf. 1 day @ Wendy's, a boy gave me 1/2 cup of frosty, & when I told him that he was trying to cheat me, he tried to lie & say that if he put more in there, they would fire him & cut money out of his paycheck. I've NEVER been told anything like that in my life! Then, after that, he's been holding a grudge against me ever since, because I reported him to the manager. Usually, they fill my frosty cup to the top.

The machine is likely being cleaned. At McDonald's it takes at least four hours and not many people are trained on how to clean it. And at Burger King, it's supposed to be taken apart every night and if the person opening doesn't know how to put it together, it can't be used until someone comes in who can put it together. There is a huge lack of appropriate training in fast food and the effects of it are passed on to the customers.

When I was a student I sold ice cream at weekends from a van. I always gave the kids an extra scoop, because nobody else did, and they all came back to me, so I made more money than my competitiors.
