Do homeless shelters in Japan serve sushi?

Gypsyfish: From Wikipedia

From Wikipedia: A homeless man in Tokyo. Homelessness is a social issue in Japan, primarily affecting middle-aged and elderly men. Homelessness is thought to have peaked in the 1990s as a consequence of the collapse of the Japanese asset price bubble and has largely fallen since then, although further economic downturns have at times increased the number of homeless people in the last ten years. As of 2014, the number of homeless people in Tokyo reached a record low, only about 1,697 people or one person for every 10,000 city inhabitants.[6] Homeless people are given more support in Japan: People without the income, savings or property to meet the basic necessities of living were able to receive livelihood protection. Women escaping from domestic violence, or from former partners seeking to restart former relationships, were able to receive support from women's care institutions, refuges, and shelters. In the case of minors, forms of support such as child welfare institutions were also made available.

No that is in Thailand. Were at closing time. All the cafes have there scrap picked up. It is then reserved mixed together to the homeless. So some Sushi there. & other foods.

Sophie

No as sushi is quite expensive and needs to be fresh so it is not suitable for homeless shelters.

I think Gypsyfish is correct here because the day labourers who ended up sleeping rough after the bubble burst are mostly now either dead or pensioned off. This is why the "doya" where those guys used to live when they had work are now mostly filled with backpackers. Furthermore, reconstruction and decontamination in Tohoku really put a lot of down and out guys to work. One of the reasons the locals cite for not returning to now decontaminated communities is that there are too many sketchy outsiders hanging around!
