It's Americanized Chinese food, modified to use American ingredients and appeal to American palates. It's Chinese in the same way Taco Bell is Mexican.

Yes. They eat a lot of different food in China. Some people say it's not authentic, but you can literally find places in China that serve that kind of food. They also eat scorpions and cats and dogs.

Really, a rule of thumb, if a there’s a chain that has Chinese, Mexican, or Italian food, people will say it’s not real (insert country here) food.

It's more like an American version of Chinese food,or Chimes American food, depending on how you want to phrase it.What it also is is very different from the food you would get if you went to China,as for me, I don't like Panda Express, to me it's pricey and sometimes it's not fresh out of the kitchen because what they do is when a new batch of whatever dish it is comes out of the kitchen they leave it under the warmers until they need to make more; so you can't know if what they are giving you has been sitting there under the warmers for 5 minutes or for 35 minutes-until you taste it.

It's an American version of Asian food. The food suppliers will tell you exactly that. A big difference is that the American style usually has more sugar content.
