How come my radio gets more static when i tune next to a 'HD-radio' station? Do HD stations trash stations next to them on the FM band?

In the USA we do not have HD-Radio on same band as regular FM. Our old FM band is for Analog modulation, only. HD indicates a digital protocol. I would like to hear what your adjacent channel trash sounds like. But to your point, HD has a broader band width and, yes it would infringe on a close by FM station. That is why here, each has their own special piece of the frequency spectrum. Very Likely, that HD station it outside its licensed slot. " Illegal "
