Do record labels pay to put artists on award shows & talk shows?
Like do they have to pay to have an artist perform at the Grammys or go on Ellen.

No the record labels etc do not have anything to do with them being on any shows or award shows. The show either pays them to be on their show or vice versa if they want to sell their CD's. Its just like when someone wirtes a book and want to sell it they pay to be on a certain show., the same with making a movie or tv show.
