Try taking it to a dry cleaner

dry clean it if it's wool. If it's washable, try good quality dish detergent (the one that gets grease out of your way.)

As others have stated, a dry cleaners can remove it. Just be sure to tell them it's a grease stain. They have special soaps & solvents to remove certain stains.

try washing it off with a cloth or put it in the washing machine then apologise to the mum.

Depends on what the coat is made of. If the coat isn’t washable, have it dry cleaned.
