Are you allowed to put a child up for adoption as a punishment?

There are parents who punish children by telling them this, or say things like 'The Bogeyman' will take you away. Many would say this is cruel and makes a child feel insecure, but parents who do this might really believe 'Words will never hurt', and think it's not as bad as smacking a child. I would hope that a parent who actually approached an adoption agency and said 'My child is very naughty, so I want to have them adopted', would be offered counselling. If your parents have threatened you, you could see a school counselor. Another suggestion is to look at an adoption website, and see if it shows prospective parents. Let your parents see what you are doing, and say you are looking for better ones. It might shake them up!
