Breast feeding - your opinion?

It’s a great way to feed a baby. What others do with their breasts doesn’t really concern me though, I couldn’t care less as long as baby is fed and mom is happy. For my family, I both breast-fed and formula fed my son and I preferred formula/bottle feeding.

Speed

It's what's best for the baby nutritionally. It's free. It offers the infant some protection from disease. It helps the uterus recover more quickly. It helps the mother lose weight if she gained more than she should have. It can be done discretely in public. Win-win, all the way.

In the 19th and early 20th century, babies who weren't breastfed, were said to be given artificial milk. To me, there are 2 good reasons not to attempt breastfeeding - medical or because the baby is to be adopted. Neither applied to me. I no more considered formula feeding from birth: than I considered artificial insemination, without trying the natural way, when deciding to try for a baby.

Wonderful for baby if mom can do it, and should be supported for mothers who want to breastfeed. But in the end, fed it best.

Me and my wife are strictly breastfeed only no formula for our boys the same way our parents did for us. We do not give any other food until one year old and then still breastfeed as well for a while longer.

I am for it but not flaunt it out in public . I tried but baby wouldn’t latch and I didn’t get milk and my breast got way to full . Very painful then have to use cabbage leaves to relieve the pressure , no kidding and it hurts to nurse

I don't even understand the controversy over it. Breasts are not genitals, they are mammary glands that secrete milk that is designed to be the perfect food for human infants. Breast feeding is how our species survived all these generations. For modern humans to claim there is somehow something wrong with breast feeding is among the stupidest opinions I have ever heard.
