Why doesn’t my baby look like his dad?

I just had a baby boy 2 weeks ago and he looks nothing like his dad. In fact his skin tone is darker than both of ours. We both are pretty white but my baby is literally tan. Will that go away? He was born at 37 weeks. My boyfriend is questioning if he is the father. Which he is, im just confused as why he is so tan and doesn’t look like him much compared to other people’s baby’s and the dads.

Because all babies look pretty much identical. They resemble potatoes with facial features. The father is just paranoid and frightened about fatherhood. Have the baby DNA tested and then the two of you can put all this nonsense behind you.

He doesn't look like his dad because he simply didn't inherit any of his dad's features. This isn't an uncommon thing, nor is it a valid reason for his father to be questioning paternity. I know plenty of people who only look like one parent and not the other (personally, I'm the spitting image of my mom and look absolutely nothing like my dad), and I even know people who don't favor either one of their parents.

Premies are prone to jaundice. Have you been following his bilirubin levels?

One of our daughters is 26 years old and I have yet to see anything in her looks which resembles me. No big deal. Genetics are funny.

Who knows? all looks we get are from our parents, grandparents etc, if your boyfriend remains concerned just have a DNA test done to put his mind at rest.

Children an inherit traits from their grand-parents and great-grandparents. Look down both your and your husband's family trees. I am sure that you will find people there that your son does indeed resemble.

Don't worry. I look nothing like my dad thank god. In fact I look nothing like any other member of my family. So much so I have asked if I was adopted. Of course I am not. Just because he does not look like his dad does not mean anything.

Sometime babies favor grandparents. That is the way genes work.

I hope he's been checked for jaundice.

My son doesn't strongly resemble either of us, even at 5 years old. With my daughter (9 months) it's more obvious.

Because genetics.
