Using a fetal doppler is about .05% of the job of an OB/GYN. They are doctors who do routine gyn care, surgeries, prenatal care, deliveries and much more. Certainly the average day as an OB/GYN is going to involve less tragedy than ... say ... an oncologist or cardiologist, but they do deal with very sick women and with pregnancies that have horrible and sad outcomes.

It could be sad if the 12 week fetus didn’t have a heartbeat, and passed away in utero.
