Dissolving of a salt .... Magnesium phosphate = Mg3(PO4)2 The salt dissolves in acid solution to a very slight extent Mg3(PO4)2(s) + 2H+(aq) <==> 3Mg2+ + 2HPO4^2- But MgHPO4 is not very soluble. You could say that it is insoluble, and will form a hydrate. Mg3(PO4)2(s) + 4H+ + 3H2O(l) --> Mg2+ + MgHPO4•3H2O(s) + H3PO4(aq)
