Does nicotine affect your thyroid?

so my “thyroid number” is higher than it should be so i need to be put on this medicine to make it regular so i was wondering if nicotine would be a factor because i have a juul and use it often i just want to know if that could be the issue or if it’s just a thyroid problem because my mom also has a thyroid issue and has never smoked anything
