Why do people complain about homeless living in motels, hotels & hostels but also have a problem with them being on the streets?

Many times, they're turned away because shelters are full. Some shelters have bed bugs. Other shelters remind homeless people of their traumatic military experience or prison & give them flashbacks. Some homeless people who work & are trying to get back on their feet find that shelter check ins are inconvenient & conflict with their work schedules.
