Huck Finn learned how to read, and his pappy got mad because it wasn't right that a kid should know more than his old man. That's still the way it is in some areas where people think book learning is a waste of time. All you need is common sense. Trump seems to be one of those people. His intelligence experts are "naive", scientists don't know what they're talking about, and any so called expert who disagrees with him isn't worth considering.

because it is the easy thing to do. this phenotype of humans are astonishingly lazy, and will gladly do repetitive but easy things - sometimes to injury - because the result is satisfactory to their understanding, to their etiology, to their ontology. we suffer because we do the easy thing. it is unfortunately built into the assumption of engineering and of capitalism. both seek efficiency and reduction of work and these individuals will not leverage the newfound ease they now enjoy by self improvement...instead they will wax and pine for the 'good old days' when dumb repetitive jobs were plentiful because engineers had not automated the task yet. for example, it was hard on horses when the automobile was invented...thousands were slaughtered because their feces were an obnoxious nuisance while the automobile produced no such tangible nuisance.

One could argue that the way that politicians and the cooperative MSM present simple phrases that can be used by members of the electorate as a substitute for actual thinking contributes to the problem. Take Proud Millennial Snowflake's answer as an example. That person actually believes that he/she contributed to the conversation. That person believes that their answer demonstrates some level of knowledge and intelligence. In reality, it is just a regurgitation of some made-up words. Just my two cents.

the word is "predominant" anti-intellectualism is pretending that intellectual endeavours like speaking other languages, using proper grammar or going into details are things to be disrespected or even suspected.

Democrats want to tell you what you should think and they ridicule a difference of opinion. Republicans just tell you to think.
