It is up to the individual bowling center to set their own limit. For many, that limit is bowlers per lane. Some do allow one or two more. And even with a posted rule, a center is free to make exceptions. If business is very slow and there is no need to get people in and out - the best estimate is a game with six on a lane takes an hour, so the faster you can get bowlers in and out, the more revenue generated - they may allow more, but are likely to give them two lanes to speed things up.
