Did we maybe get an apartment? Opinions?!?

Me and my fiancé applied for an apartment. He thinks we got it no questions asked. I’m afraid we didn’t because of his background check. He got a dui back in 2016. He hasn’t done anything since. He even quit drinking in December. I noticed on Facebook that the apartment we wanted sold. I’m not sure if we got it or not. The landlord said she was going to know by Tuesday because of the background. She was so sweet and even asked me if I was excited for the wedding. I don’t like to be too personal with certain people especially if it’s just hi and bye kind of thing. I felt like my fiancé was overly explaining himself. I kinda felt like that would hurt us more.

First off, over explaining is probably going to do more help than good. They will probably find the DUI but if they like you and him and understand the circumstances but also understand he stopped drinking then they'll be more likely to over look it. Anyhow, no way to tell on the apartment, they could've taken it off the market based on your (and possibly other applications) or could be trying to get someone else in there (and maybe you are the back up) but I'd keep looking just in case. Even if you didn't get the place, if you came really close then I'll bet you will be able to find something else pretty quickly so keep looking but don't apply for anything else until Tuesday.

My opinion is you don't seem to know the difference between renting and buying......... so sort that issue out first and secondly only the person you ar renting or buying from can answer

Simply

sold? you were BUYING the apartment? that would make it a condo. most condos don't do back ground checks and don't have landlords. apparently they asked questions if they know about the DUI. there is no way to tell if you are getting it or if it was rented to someone else of course some landlords will turn down a drunk. they tend to cause problems. so he's been sober for a month.....thats not very long

If you are going to marry this guy, you need to give him more credit. A dui will not stand in your way from getting approved. Apologize to your fiancé before Tuesday.
