Does every adult who lives together have to sign an apt lease AND does every single person who signs the lease HAVE to be employed?

Even if the adults who are all over 18 are not a couple or married? An immediate family member

Most landlords require that everyone over 18 who resides in the property be on the lease. Of course everyone does not have to be employed - there are plenty of students, stay-at-home parents, disabled, retired, etc., folks who are not employed.

yes must sign, no don't have to be employed

Anyone over the age of 18 has to be on the lease. No not all have to be employed. 18 year olds can still be in high school or going to college, there is stay at home parents, elderly, disabled, etc....

Slumlord

Depends on the landlord, on whether every adult must sign. Typically every adult does not have to be employed.

Usually yes and yes. But the final decision is up to the landlord in regard to both of your questions.

Usually yes, but it's entirely up to the LL.

Its up to the landlord whether or not every occupant must be on the lease, but legally speaking the landlord must approve of all occupants. The mistake many tenants make is believing that because they pay rent they are allowed to move in whom ever they want regardless of what the landlord says. As far as everyone needing to be employed is again up to the landlord, but generally speaking that is more commonly the case because legally everyone who signs the lease is responsible for paying the full rent even if the others don't chip in.

Simply

A. that is up to the individual landlord, there is no worldwide law requiring all adults to sign. B. again up to the individual landlord.....if one tenant has the credit and income to pay the rent, they may allow the other to move in without income...but still require them to sign and be responsible to get a job if need be, NOTE: I have known adults who lived in an apartment without signing the lease so OBVIOUSLY no not every landlord around the world requires it.

Yes, the apartment will require every adult living in the apartment to sign the lease. No, every person on the lease does not have to be employed as long as the combine income of the rest is enough to cover the rent.

Amanda

yes, you have to be employed to be on the lease
