Can a 50 year old pilot get a first officer job at a major airline like Delta, Fedex, American or UPS?

I'm a police officer and will retire when I become 46. I will work as a part time flight instructor until then and when I get retired as a cop, I will try to work at a regional airline for 3-5 years. Can I still get hired by Delta, Fedex, American or UPS?

Probably not with a MAJOR airline. You'll have better luck getting a job flying with one of the regional/feeder airlines that operate the hub and spoke flights from the smaller cities to the hub airports. You might also look at applying to one of the air freight operators like Mountain Air Cargo (Eastern US) or Empire Airlines (Western US) instead of flying passengers. The pay's not as good, but you'll get to sleep at home in your own little bed most nights.

If you are a pilot, why are you working as a cop?

It would seem unlikely, there are plenty of younger pilots with your experience, not to mention any former military pilots that you might be competing with.

It is best to stay in your "zone". Work as a consultant or training officer for security companies or security for corporations. They need people like you with a lot of experience. I do not think you want to be a "rookie" again at 50 years old.

Yes, and you would be paid double - first as a pilot, and second as an Air Marshal. You would also save a lot of lives by arresting any fellow pilots trying to commit murder / suicide
