Typically, how many years of life could I get out of a Jeep Patriot?

I drive it moderately. There is 42,000 miles on it accumulated in 3 years.

s BAD PRESS<> and the engines have a DESIGN FLAW if it is the 3.7 engine! There is a SECRET lawsuit! The ROCKER arms like to FALL OFF inside the engine!.. THe 4.7 engine ALSO ghas the same flaws! I IMAGINED that if I invented a set of ROCKER ARM RETAINER SPRINGS for these engines I could make a FORTUNE ewith it! They did NOT design RETAINER SPRINGS for them, and they just PLOP OUT of the valve train! ALL JEEP DEALERSHIPS keep extra ROCKER ARMS in stock fo rhtis purpose! The JEEP lease on my customer car, the COMMANDER< was charged additional $8,000 for the POORLY designed engine when the ROCKER on number FIVE ejected into the valv cover!.. They had Plenty of time to RE- ENGINEER this engine and INCLUDE retainer springs! They di NOT do it! Welcome to REAL world of DOMESTIC car making! H The OLDER STRAIGHT SIX engine was the BEST they had to offer, and they COULD have made it GREAT with multi valving and BETTER injection system from BOSCH but they NEVER DID! i WOULD not EXPECT EVEN 100K MILES FROM THESE loser ENGINES! good luck ANYWAYS! oR let'S design SOME rocker arm retainer SPRINGS AND MAKE A small FORTUNE form this! CHECK CONSUMER REPORTS if you do NTO believe me! .. I havwe e\sse n them FAIL and get crated off to the JUNK YARD< because NO ONE wnats to FIX THEM the right way! BYE for NOW!

You can get as much life out of it as you want, though you'll have to start throwing money at it. Keep it serviced and baby it. You should get 200K out of the motor.

Drive it for 10 years. Trade it in and get another vehicle.

I think when something goes wrong between 200,000 and 250,000 miles is when most would give up on keeping it alive any longer and either sell it to some kid for a couple hundred bucks to drive it looking hideous and on its last leg until it dies utterly or sell it directly to the junk yard, whichever will pay more. Between 200,000 and 250,000 miles will be when those offers will be about the same. You're putting on 14,000 miles a year, so I'd give you about 12 to 14 years left. Will you actually keep it that long? Doubtful. You'll sell it for something newer and prettier. That Jeep will end up dying four or five owners from now if it doesn't get killed in a car accident first.

Good engine. Never seen a problem with these engines. I have replaced several transmissions in these including the CVT for failure, 6 speed automatic for failure and the manual transmission for noise.

20 maybe, it will need servicing of some things within that time frame, but probably wont need total overhaul of the major drivetrain components before that and the floorboards probably wont fall out of it from rust before then ..
