Like mobile phones, radio waves are used by a WiFi network to transmit information over the network. The computer should have a wireless adapter that translates data transmitted to a radio signal. The same signal is transmitted to a decoder called the router via antenna. After decoding, the data is sent via a wired ethernet connection to the Internet.
