Why does Google have separate video search and a Youtube search?

They had video search in the days before they bought YouTube, video search now searches other video sites other than just YouTube.

Video for sites other than & including YouTube & of course YouTube search for YouTube videos.

Because many videos are not in YouTube; they are with other video sharing sites such as Dailymotion or are uploaded to webpages.
