Will a fault ps4 system affect a newly purchased HDD ?

i’m trying to figure out whether if buying a new ps4 HDD will fix my ps4 from going to “cannot start ps4” in the safe mode menu. my hdd does make noise and yes it’s obvious to get a new HDD but that would only fix the HDD problem but what if it’s the ps4 system it’s self? i don’t wanna waste money cuz in the end the faulty ps4 system would affect the new HDD? does that sound logical ? any help

Unless you give it to someone who can diagose PS4s problems better than you, all you can do is replace the hard drive, reinstall the OS, and see if that fixes the problem. If that works, then the hard drive was the problem. If it doesn't fix the problem, then it's something else and you still won't know what it is unless you send it to someone. So, pay someone to look at it now, or buy a hard drive first and try it for yourself, taking a risk that you may have to pay later for what you can pay for now. Risk-reward: not just a video game concept. It's a life concept, too.
