How to connect Smart TV with SoundBar with Xbox One?

So I am trying to figure this out and it may be simple but I just need confirmation. To put it simply, can I connect my TV to SoundBar using a simple ARC HDMI to ARC HDMI, and then connect my Xbox HDMI to another HDMI input on my TV. Would that mean my TV still uses the SoundBar as its audio source so my Xbox will play produce sound from the SoundBar? Or do I need to do it a different way? I also have an optical cable I can use if need be, but would much rather keep it to all HDMI. TV is LG Smart TV. Soundbar is a Yamaha 108.

to connect your soundbar to the TV, it must be connected to an output from the TV. read your soundbar manual for some pretty pictures. basically, outputs get connected to inputs, and vice versa.

Yes, you can plug the Xbox into the TV's second HDMI input and hear it through the soundbar. If you had another HDMI device that was displaced from the TV by the soundbar you can use the soundbar's HDMI input, which should pass through to the TV as if the soundbar wasn't there.

The ARC connection on your TV is for use with an A/V receiver that also has that feature. The receiver Must be used as a source selector for the audio from all sources to come out of the sound system. Only if your sound bar emulates the ARC feature of a receiver AND also has Another HDMI input will your wish come true. Refer to the Owner's Manuals for your equipment for connection and operation instructions.
