Plug my microphone and play music one speaker with one mic jack?
I want to plug my microphone and play music on my laptop and play into one speaker and have both the music and my voice come through the speaker. what type of Y cable do I need. I am a dance teacher who says the steps while the music is playing from my laptop onto one speaker is there a splitter that I can use to do this

There are better and easier ways. One of those ways is by using one of those cheap amplified speakers (Ion Block Rocker, for example). Make sure the model you choose has the ability to mix the mic input with the line input, which is where the computer should be connected. Find a local audio nut who knows how to connect stuff the right way. That person will be priceless to you in the future.
