Here is the link with teacher salaries by state. http://www.nea.org/home/2016-2017-average-starting-teacher-salary.html However, that isn't the whole story. Usually the states with the best salaries also have the highest costs of living. You may be able to enjoy a better quality of life where the cost of living isn't so high.

According to NEA, here's starting salaries for 2016-17 school year. Don't forget some states require master's degree for certification, some accept bachelor's only. Those with master's make more than those without, of course. http://www.nea.org/home/2016-2017-average-starting-teacher-salary.html Most start in the 30s & 40s. These days, a lot of college grads would be very happy to find their first job with pay of $36k or better - for 9-10 months work. And few states starting pay is below $36k. Also note even new teachers have opportunities to increase pay, e.g. coaching sports, etc.
