Wooden clogs? I danced in English clogs for four years, with just nylon soccer socks on my feet and no padded insole. Wore them all day, no problem, although some of the other dancers changed as soon as they could. And I met some people who danced in Dutch (all wood) clogs - they used very thick socks!

Wood does not flex. This creates a problem if walking far. A stiff shoe or boot sole.

I once tried on a pair (dressed up as a little Dutch girl) when I was little. I can't exactly remember what they felt like, but they weren't uncomfortable to walk in.
